These are three favourite tracks. Review : http://singersong.homestead.com/MortenBarfoed.html#anchor_294 * Label Kollective Niss Stricker : Under Himmelhavet (DK,2009)***° Tr.1, “Sang Til Madho-Lal” 4 min Tr.2, “Myggenes Dans” 3 min 7 -22 Great psych-folk song album with sometimes eastern flavours. Review : http://www.psychedelicfolk.com/acidfolkreview30.html#anchor_1201 * Cleveland prod. Niss : Fuglphoenixfjer (DK,2003)***° The previous album by Niss will be airplayed in one of the next radio shows. Review : http://psychedelicfolk.homestead.com/acidfolkreview30.html#anchor_1208 * Orpheus Aron : Djævlens Horn (Devils Horn) –LP-(DK,2007)**°° Tr.2, “jævlebarn” 6 min Tr.5, “drømmedagsprofet” 3 min 9-31 Folkpsych, melancholic music with sometimes horror film music imagination. Review on http://www.psychemusic.org/DANMARK.html#anchor_267 Guitar: * Strange Attractors Glenn Jones : Barbecue Bob in Fishtown (US,2009)****° Tr.7,“1337 Shattuck Avenue, Apartment D” 8 min Another great guitar and banjo album by this guitarist, with lots of references. Glen Jones develops slowly, like John Fahey, new areas by exploring certain traditions and classics. A fine album from which the Robbie Basho’s exploration still stands out for me. Review : http://www.psychedelicfolk.com/guitar14.html#anchor_495 * Sound Ohm Michelle Lombardelli : Broken Guitars -LP- (I,2009)*** Tr.3, “Untitled 13” 19 min (705->1102:fragment)5 min As if pieces are broken and turned into its own space of sound and direct explorations in space, developing in it its own speech of sounds while breathing slowly.. (This is guitar music). Michelle is a visual artist. Review : http://www.psychedelicfolk.com/guitar14.html#anchor_499 Song albums.. * Agadu 30 anos de Musica Uruguaya 9 : Jorge Barral/Genesis/Jesus (UR,re.1998)*°’ * Agadu 30 anos de Musica Uruguaya 15 : Hojas / Los Campos (UR,re.1999)*° * Agadu 30 anos de Musica Uruguaya 17 : Miguel y El Comité/Limonada/Leo Antúnez (UR,1999)**°° Tr.16, Leo Antunez : “Cancion de cuna” 3 min -47 Unfortunately the Uruguay scene wasn’t able to develop as much as in Argentine, Brazil for instance. In general the scene from what I heard from it disappointed me. This poetry song of Leo Antunez stand out from these compilations. No reviews. * Private Avital Raz : Skin & Feathers (IS,2009)**° Tr.3, “Beautiful (Kali’s Garland)” 5 min -52 Much more personal album by Avital Raz, darker in content. I like the Indian flute and conga percussion here, giving a slight pagan feeling...(Kali is one of the goddesses in India). Review : http://singersong.homestead.com/AvitalRaz.html#anchor_111 Pagan: * Demo Kira : The Way Home (US,2004)***’ Tr.4, “The Waiting” 5 min -57 Female minstrel Pagan related songs on dulcimer. Simple but heart-felt and effective. My favourite track. Music played for the enjoyment of playing. Review : http://www.psychefolk.com/FUSION3.html#anchor_95 Exotism and psych rock: * September Gurls Adrian Shaw & Rod Goodway : Oxygen Thieves (UK,2009)*°° Tr.1, “Coloured Rain” 4 min -69 Varied psychedelic rock album with different influences (from 60s until now). Music made for the pure enjoyment of the making. Review : http://psychemusic.org/newpsych.html#anchor_211 Symphonic Progressive, chamber rock, Zeuhl and vocal arrangements: * Vijaero Inmovil M.I.A. : Archivos MIA (1974-1985)(ARG,re.2009)***°’ CD1,Tr.2, “Coral Rock” 5 min CD1,Tr.5, “El Ultima” 5 min 10 -79 One of the most important Argentine groups, these two tracks are taken from their 4th live album. Impressive vocal arrangements with an ‘Atom Heart Mother touch’ Review : http://psychemusic.org/ARG_REVIEWS.html#anchor_30 * preview cdr Vox Nostra : Anima (F,2009)**° Tr.1, “Salve Regina” 9 min -88 Inspired by Magma and religious music in Latin, featuring guitarist Jean-Claude Delachat (who was a short time in Magma, from Edder Stellaire). Review : http://www.psychemusic.org/prog24.html#anchor_320 * Home Aranis : Songs from the mirage (B,2009)***°’ Tr.1, “Ouverture” 7 min Tr.2, “Fresia” 3 min Tr.3, “Chamber Rock” 3 min 13 -101 Ambitious chamber Music with pop/rock/minimalism touch this time added vocal arrangements from a language of their own invention. Very strong opening tracks. Review on http://www.psychemusic.org/belgium2.html#anchor_154 * Ex Tension Elull Noomi : Uléella -A Capella- (F,2007)***° Tr.1, “Aborimis” 12 min -113 Released by a division of Magma's label, featuring Antoine Paganotti on vocals and with the group singing in an 'imaginary language' not sounding like Magma, but like a sophisticated acapella art form. Well arranged/composed. Professionally done. Review : http://www.psychemusic.org/prog24.html#anchor_325 (World Fusion): * Omega Pacific Dwiki Dharmawan World Peace Orchestra (INDO,2009)**°° (Tr.1, “The Spirit Of Peace” 5 min 106) Very good ambitious jazz-fusion rock flavoured album with here on this track the most clearly mixed world music mix of styles. I hope to airplay other, more jazzfusion flavoured tracks some other time, like the track “Jancer”. Because of the late inclusion of Elull Noomi this, together with some other track will hopefully be airplayed in next radioshow instead. Review on http://www.psychemusic.org/INDOREVIEWS.html#anchor_79 * Paviliun Efek Rumach Kaca (INDO,2009)*° Good indie-rock band from Indonesia. * Home Karoline de la Serna : Traduzca (B,2009)***° (Tr.1, “Abentura” 6 min 112) Mostly Spanish folk song related melancholy root seeking song cycle. This Middle Eastern tuning in is a bit different but suits well with this Radioshow. Because of Elull Noomi this will hopefully be airplayed in next radioshow instead. Review on http://www.psychedelicfolk.com/ethnofolk.html#anchor_77 Voice: * Columbia The Savage Rose : Universal Daughter (DK,2009)**** Tr.2, “Filiberto” 5 min Tr.5, “Hear them coming” 5 min It was difficult to choose tracks from this one. The Savage Rose made Jefferson Airplane flavoured pop/rock since the late 60s. This new release showed a matured incredible voice of the same singer. What a voice.. Recommended. Review : http://singersong.homestead.com/Thesavagerose.html#anchor_292 Total airplay time : 120 minutes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Next radio show will feature some new releases of world Fusion from Indonesia & Thailand and perhaps South-Korea, and a lot more.. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Homepage radioshow : http://psychefolk.com/ Playlists : http://psychefolk.com/2009.html Newsletter with new reviews and playlists with some audio links : http://groups.yahoo.com/group/psychevanhetfolk/ Subscribe: psychevanhetfolk-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
