This comes from a reissued early compilation. Review : http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/newmusic.html#anchor_70 * Amorfon   Yoshio Machida : Naada (JAP,2006)***’ Tr.5, «Lotus solo» 5 min 13 (shortened) Meditative steelpan improvisations with use of a certain random harmony clusters, in a contemporary music mode. Review : http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/expmu-naturalsounds.html * Ancient Future Ancient Future : Natural Rhythms (US,1981,re.2005)****’ Tr.3, “Frogorian Dance” 4 min (fragment) Tr.8, “Valley of the moon” 3 min 7 -28 Very good World Fusion, at times improvised with Javan frogs (really!), like these two tracks. First track is with jungle rhythms on the frogs’ rhythmic sounds, second track is with acoustic strings. Review : http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/WORLD.html#anchor_45 * Kning Jerry Johansson and a string quartet from Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra (S,2006)***°’ Tr.2, (fragment) 1247->18.. 6 min -34 In this very beautiful fragment sitar and orchestra intertwine with one another’s melodic theme and colour. Review on http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/SITARORCHESTRA.html * Sri Ramanasr. Ilaiyaraja : Guru Ramana Geetam (IND,200 ?) ? This release arrived too late for submission. I love this composer. Info : http://cdbaby.com/cd/ilaiyaraja1 Review expected on http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/SITARORCHESTRA.html * private Sacha Silva: Susurro (SP,IND,2004)****’ Tr.1, “Sol Y Luna” 4 min -38 Garcia Lorca song interpreted in an Indian way for the singing, with calm flamenco guitar and tabla. Modest and nice. The honest spontaneity makes this release to go deeper compared to some investigations in search of this Indian/flamenco blend. Review on http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/SITARFLAMENCO.html * CM Indialucia: Indialucía : (SP/IND/POL,2005)***°° Tr.1, “Raag & Ole” 6 min Tr.9, “Indialucia” 6 min Tr.10,“Amanecer” 3 min 15 53 Professional Fusion group of Indian/Spanish musicians looks for similar inspirations and foundations of flamenco & Indian music. Last track combines even some singing techniques. Review on http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/SITARFLAMENCO.html * Record Label Sote : Dastgaah (IR,2006)**’ Tr.1, 2 min Tr.6, 1 min 3 -56 Avant-Garde electronic Persian music based upon ancient forms and on real quickened santur recordings. Original and experimental. For fans of Muslimgauze. Review : http://progressive.homestead.com/Persiareview.html#anchor_64 * Private Pharaoh's Daughter : Daddy's Pockets (US/..,1999)*** Jewish singer/musician from North African origin makes very interesting independent world fusion, and on this release singer-songwriter based music with interest for traditional elements. “Marakesh” is my favourite track from this release. Review : http://progressive.homestead.com/pharaohsdaughter.html * Tzadik Pharaoh's Daughter : Out of the reeds (US/..,199?,re.2004)***° * Tzadik Pharaoh's Daughter : Queen's Dominion (US/..,2004)**** Tr.2, “By Way of Haran” 7 min -63 I chose this melodic improvisation between violoncello, double bass, oud and flute. Review : http://progressive.homestead.com/pharaohsdaughter.html * Private Pharaoh's Daughter : Exile (US/..,2002)***° Tr.6, “Off and on” 5 min -68 (Tr.11,“Scream” 5 min) Very good singer-songwriter album about Jews being exiled by the Orthodox society, with Middle Eastern music (with orchestra) mixed with a certain poprock idea (with a few rock instruments). Review : http://progressive.homestead.com/pharaohsdaughter.html * Sound Micr.Dep. Vladiswar Nadishana : Takku Ta Tei (RU,2000)****' Tr.7, “Takku Tatei” 8 min -76 Multi-coloured ethno-World fusion music-magician from the Russian/Siberian border with Tuva, with many self-build ethnical instruments reinventing the ethnic world traditions. On the titletrack you can hear well some self-built instruments. Reviews : http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/WORLD.html#anchor_55 * Sound Micr.Dep. Vladiswar Nadishana : Penetration into substance (RU,2000-2001)****° Tr.1, “Intro” 1 min Tr.4, “Kuo Ke” 3 min -80 * Sound Micr.Dep. Ayas Kholazhyk & Vladiswar Nadishana or 'Russian/Tuvinian Karma Knot' (RU,2001-2003)****’ Tr.6, “Terlih Haya” 6 min -86 A great and rather unique ethno-jazzfusion song release with a Tuvan throat- singer, and with many world instruments including the self-built semi-ones. * Sound Micr.Dep. Vladiswar Nadishana : The Traditional music of Ancient Kuzhebar Aborigines (RU,2005)****° Tr.3, “Kuzhebar Traditional Cat’s Love Song” 4 min Wonderful worldfusion release with recognisable elements. This original track based upon the sound of a cat which becomes a beautiful semi-ethnic instrument can’t be missed. * Net Dot Gino Foti : Orbis Terrarium (I/US,2006)**°’ Tr.13, “A Smile for every Tear” 4 min -108 Fusion rock artist Gino Foti now makes solo ethnical music based upon rhythmical samples, midi-guitar, keyboards and bass guitar mostly. This track combines nicely a rather baroque piano theme with Spanish guitar. Reviews : http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/world.html#anchor_63 * Net Dot Gino Foti : Bhavachakra (I/US,2006)***° Tr.1, “Akusala-mula/ The Three poisons” 4 min 94 A very good release I think is this conceptual release which can be used in combination with a study of the Tibetan book of the Dead. Best to listen from start to finish. Musically I think the opening guitar track with dark keyboards and midi-guitar is the most interesting track to take out of the context. Reviews : http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/world.html#anchor_63 * Net Dot Gino Foti : Vedic Mantras (I/US,2006)***° Tr.5, “Brahmananda Valli, part 1” 5 min (fragment) The most progressive track from accompanying music for Indian mantra reciting. Review : http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/WORLD.html#anchor_63 * Net Dot Gino Foti : Sphere Of Influence (I/US,2006)** * Psych-O-Path Blumen des Exotisches Eises : Karawane der Mystics (rec.1983-1985,pub.1986, re.2006)**° Distorted and better recorded outsider krautrock improvisations of a fictive hippie-mystic trip. From slightly disturbing weird and rather chaotic to hypnotic, in a post-krautrock welcome-the-‘80’s-hometape-territory. Best to listen when stoned. The tracks are too chaotic to fit into this radio-concept well. Review : http://progressive.homestead.com/Germanprogreview.html#anchor_31 * Subliminal Radio Thailand (THAI,198s-2004)**° Radiorecordings collection from Thailand, a pop and ethnical mix, with a certain hot contrasting approach. Review : http://progressive.homestead.com/MALAYSIA.html * Subliminal Radio Algeria (ALG,198’s-199s)***°’ Tr.1, "Disco Maghreb" 4 min -113 Tr.2, ”Exterior Grooves” fragment (3 min) 7 -116 This first track contains an attractive mystery Algerian ethno-rock track with wah-wah Guitar, taken from a local radio broadcast. Very interesting ! Review : http://progressive.homestead.com/MiddleEast2.html#anchor_103 * Essay Balkan Beat Box (IS,2005)***°’ Tr.3, “Adir Adirim” 5 min If time left : Tr.10, “Meboli” 5 min Great Balkan/ethno-rhythmic/North African music mix. A shame there was no time to airplay more of this great band.
