Playlist "Psyche van het Folk", Radio Centraal, Antwerpen,Belgium Some Canadian Folk Prog part 2, and Italian progressive music part 1 ; and church organ in both to compare some. Disques Kozak Maneige : Ni vent..ni nouvelle (CAN,1977)**** Tr.1,"Le gai marvin" 2 min Tr.2,"La fin de l'histoire" 4 min Tr.4,"Les epinettes" 4 min Tr.7," Le Gros Roux" 4 min (Tr.9,"11 juillet" 6 min) 20 Those who like Harmonium's instrumental balance will like this too. Beautiful mostly acoustically composed with some flute, mellotron, piano. Private Boule de Son : Just en passant...(CAN,1975)**** Tr.1, "Arc-en-ciel" 3 min Tr.4, "Réviel" 4 min Tr.5, "Levez les yeux" 5 min Tr.6, "Le temps est venu" 5 min (?) Tr.9, "Apprendre à prendre" 6 min 23 Acid prog folk Spalax Music Catharsis : vol 1,Illuminations (CAN,1971)***** Tr.1, "Aube" 4 min Tr.2, "La mort des amants" 3 min Tr.5, "Mignonne allons voir" 2 min Tr.6, "Le cannard blanc" 3 min 12 55 Tr.8, "Poèmes du 17ième siècle" 3 min Tr.9, "Alchimie du verbe (2e partie)" 8 min 66 Pastoral and bizarre mostly acoustic prog with lots of church organ, like a quiet version of Profundo Rosso from Goblin (-track 5 uses a theme of it-),or Jacula (in first track), possibly influenced by Goblin, but also Pink Floyd (remember the church organ in "More" or "Relics"). With female ethereal singing. In last tracks a bit more piano and bizarre electronic or semi-acoustic sounds in clear compositions, with most clear the Pink Floyd influences. Highly original, unique. Spalax Music Catharsis : Le Bolero (CAN, 1972)***' Tr.14, 6 min 6 72 Much more Hammond organ lead compositions and with much more melodic compositions. Somewhat like Italian symphonic. Tr.14 is a wonderful track with organ/bass some sitar etc. Private Agape : Le troisième seul (CAN,197?)****° Tr.1, 5 min Tr.2, 3 min Tr.3, 3 min Tr.4, 4 min Tr.7, 5 min 20 92 Tr.10, 7 min 100 Seemingly spiritually inspired original and clear music. On first track some bizarre church organ, somewhat like a less heavy Jacula, with flute, drums, bass, some electronic, some collage. Further lots of Quebec folk prog. Second and third track seem to be inspired by the first tracks with the typing machine of the first album of Sisa. Black Widow Jacula : In Cauda Semper Stat Venenum (IT,1966-1969)**** Tr.1, "Ritus" 4 min Tr.6, "In cauda semper" 10 min 114 Much more quiet and enjoyable than two other Jacula albums. Church organ, piano, heavy (metal in 1969!)electric bass guitar, special key effects, some female nana singing and bass narrative initiating voice. Jacula is a weird group lead by Bartocetti, who owned a castle with organ. There he made his musical compositions inspired by spiritual séances. Although made in 1969 this sounds an end 90's product. Still unique in its kind. Mellow Rec. Jacula : Tardo Pede in Magiam Versus (IT,1974)***** Tr.1, "U.F.D.E.M." 10 min 124 Tr.3, "Long Black Magic Night" 7 min 131 Heavy church organ. Very emotional female voice, electric bass and drums on first track. One of my all time favourites. Mellow Rec. Jacula : Anno Demoni (IT.,1969-1978)***°° Tr.4, "Ego Sum qui sum"(comp. 1969/ rec. 1976) 8 min 140 Not for sensitive listeners ! Synths, church organ, el.bass, drums, percussion, heavy narrative voice. outro and intro for one of the next radio programs: Si Wan Rec. Cervello : Melos (IT,197?)****° Tr.1, 6 min Tr.4, 6 min 152 Classic item of Italian only slightly symphonic and somewhat more heavy progressive. http://hem.passagen.se/nyeland/cervello.html Review http://www.gepr.net/ce.html#CERVELLO Review at http://www.personal.psu.edu/users/d/c/dcj121/music/musica1.htm Review at http://fredrikoo.tripod.com/c.html and (in Italian)at http://www.progresiva70s.com/Prog_italiano2.htm Japanese site http://www.mm-m.ne.jp/chipmunk/CERVELLO.html Korean page http://www.siwan.co.kr/3/3_21.html -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- More information on Canadian music at http://singersong.homestead.com/CANADAPROG.html More information for Italian music at http://progressive.homestead.com/ITALIAPROG.html
