Playlist :2002-07-03, "Psyche van het Folk", Radio Centraal, Antwerpen, Belgium Some new progressive items (some softer and some harder progressive). Part 1, soft progressive : * Latticesphere Mark Kmit : Umilenye (US,2001)** quite good Slightly Mike Oldfield episode like changing tracks, with a somewhat enriched instrumentation of synthesizers sounds. Mark Kmit studied classical music, which you can hear in his compositions. More sound files you can hear at his website. Not exactly progressive, but nice. Tr.4, "Yuruichi" 4 min Tr.5, Berceuse (for Jessica)" 5 min 9 Webpage at www.markkmit.com or http://www.latticesphere.com/bands/markkmit/markhome.htm Review : http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Frontrow/7806/markkmit.html * Ant Man Tunes Antony De Gennaro : Legends in Stone (US,2002)***°EX Tr.1, "Into Forever" 6 min Tr.4, "Ashes" 7 min Tr.3, "Take the Castle" 6 min 19 28 Review and links at http://singersong.homestead.com/REV.html * Ant Man Tunes Antony de Gennaro : Unified Fields (US,2001)*** VG Tr.1, "Love at the end..." 1 min Tr.3, "The Doctor is in" 1 min Tr.4, "Faces-Places-Spaces" 6 min 8 min 36 Review and links at http://singersong.homestead.com/REV.html Both releases are intelligently made. Its music makes the guitar sound Beautiful as stucturing instrument. Part 2 : harder symphonic progressive * Musea Rec. Addition of brass is perfectly fitting. Contact : www.carbon7.com and carbon7records@compuserve.com Contact group : present@totalzoo.com * Cuneiform Rec. The Muffins : Bandwidth (US,1998-2001)**° VG Tr.1, "Walking the Duck" 3 min Tr.10, "East of Diamond" 7 min 108 Progressive band with brass section. Sometimes more RIO styled, unusual for this kind of line up, often also towards progressive jazzrock, and a few times jazz fusion. Professional. Review and links : http://progressive.homestead.com/RIO.html * Cuneiform Rec. Deus Ex Machina : Cinque (I,2002)*** GREAT Tr.4, "Olim Sol Rogavit terrami / one day the sun asked the earth" 6 min Tr.6, "Luce" 7 min Tr.1, "Convultus" 8 min 21 130 Deus Ex Machina sometimes is a bit esoteric. This release becomes on the edge of overloaded avant melodic as well. I like extremely much the powerful voice of Alberto Piras. A band with often a live playing like kind of energy. The more acoustic songs, which are less avant are more easy to appreciate ; these are extremely good as well. There is a slight (skilled) jazz fusion in guitar/violin there. (I personally prefer to start to build the tension up by starting to listen to the acoustic works at first).
