This became an American late 60's psych pop band with some Arabian member(s) & help. Most tunes remain rather traditional, only some get a more clear 60's psych touch. The release came out in a bad timing, during the Israeli-Arab war. No radiostation or hardly anyone touched the record. Info & small review : http://progressive.homestead.com/MiddleEast.html * Voice of Lebanon Omar Korshid and his guitar : rhythms from the orient (LEB,1974)***** (Tr.4, "Laylet Hom" 9 min) Tr.7, "Ah Ya Zen" 5 min 14 70 Known in the whole far east for his tremendous middle eastern surf like sound of the guitar. The first track is still very traditional, but has also electric guitar & moog. The second track has more surf like guitar; kitschy organ and moog of course. Info & review : http://progressive.homestead.com/MiddleEast.html In the US press their work is not understood. They consider it either as kitsch or terrorism. 2 other releases they still have, beside the 3 other I mentioned in my review, the 1st and 2nd Grand Constitution and Bylaws, of which the 2nd (1998) I heard should still be of most interest for me - with the studio version of the Ananda Shankar tune like from heard on Eyes of Flesh, as well as some crazy early spazzoid break-beat madness w/the mid-east touch. Most people consider it a toss up between Book M and the 2nd as to which is their strongest effort... I'll check these two other examples soon. In early '04 we the group will have a brand new CD out as well. They are sort of isolating the different elements of the band and making 7 different bands out of them - a supra-sensory surf rock band, a crazy experimental band, a cinematically oriented band, a mid- east/Pythagorean/central Asian kind of band, a vicious death metal band etc. For now they will all be under the Secret Chiefs 3 moniker, but will split off after that. * Private Fairuz Derin Bulut : demo (TÜ,2001)***°° Tr.3, "Kervan Geçmez" 4 min The demo version of this song is a bit different, because the high pitched effects were left out a bit on the CD. I preferred to include both versions. * Ada Musik Fairuz Derin Bulut : Kundante (TÜ,2003)***°' Tr.1, "Kervan Kecmez" 5 min Tr.5, "Kelebek Varyete" 5 min Tr.8, "Deli" 1 min Tr.9, "Singing in the Olmadi" 6 min Tr.10, "Rahmet" 6 min 23 135 Splendid (often heavy) psych rock with middle eastern touch, (also with electric baglama, Hammond organ, drums, el.guitars, crazed voices and much more).
