----------------Turkish Progressive Music presents : ------------------------------------------------------IHTYYAC MOLASI--------------------------------------- Personel : Tolga Cebi: Violin, Keyboards Taner Sarf: Guitar, Vocals Sinan Gursoy: Bass Guitar Murat Gullu: Drums, Percussions -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BIOGRAPHY : Ihtiyaç Molasi came together as a rock band in 1995, in Çanakkale, a seaside town on the Straits of Dardanelles, where two continents meet. Since 1993 these four young musicians had occasionally played together in a variety of activities in this town where the wind never stops blowing. Since 1995, the band took the name "i.m." and began to make their own music in Istanbul. Although they played others' music for a while, their improvised performance also took great attention and soon they became one of the favourite groups of Istanbul. In 1996 and 1997 they attended two rock music contests, in which they stepped up to finals. Their participation in such contests made their name take place in Turkish rock music anthology. In 1998, they performed their song "Çengi" (the male dancer) in an album called "We raise our voices", a compilation produced by Ada Music. Following this participation they made up their minds that it was time to make an album of their own. Thus, they signed an agreement with an independent music producer company "Zihni Music". Finally in January 1999, the album, "Milad" (The Nativity), was recorded in "Raks-Mansandiz Studios", which is one of the best studios of Turkey and it was released in April 1999. The album was a re-arrangement of the improvised music they performed formerly, which the critiques defined as progressive rock. The sound engineer of the production was Okan Dogu, and Cevdet Erek joined the group as a guest musician. In October 1999, i.m. was able to make a video of their favourite song "Çengi". However they had to give a break to making music because of the military obligations of the group members. Nowadays, the band is getting prepared for their second album.
