PLAYLIST "PSYCHE VAN HET FOLK",RADIO CENTRAAL, ANTWERPEN : 2003-07-26 : Sweet delicate singer territory,in acid folkpsych pop style and beyond. Relatively new releases & demo's. # Dream Magazine 3 : one of the best underground/psych magazines I read so far. CD : Tr.5, The Iditarod : "Carol 4AM" 5 min Ethereal, pastoral folk. Nicest track on the CD, a stimulation to buy the magazine for. Info on magazine : http://www.dreamgeo.com/ E-mail : geo@gv.net Review of latest Iditarod release : http://psychedelicfolk.homestead.com/acidfolkreview.html Webpage Iditarod : http://theiditarod.org/ E-mail : jeffrey@secreteye.org # Terrascope Magazine 33 : underground psych magazine. CD : Tr.9, The Iditarod : "The Roots of the butterfly Bush" 6 min Quiet ethereal folk with cello, sparse percussion, acoustic guitar, textures Tr.3, Sharron Kraus : "Seedless" 6 min 17 A magazine that succeeded more often to add fine or at least some interesting tracks on their additional CD's. The Sharron Kraus track here is my second favourite, Monster Island my third in the row. Things in Herds : I can dancing and walking (UK,2002)** Tr.2, "Don't put out the light" 5 min Tr.10, "I don't need a thing"4 min 9 Nice guitar & changes in melody, with a Nick Drake like melody in this track. Textual it's might be more simple, naive. Info : www.thingsinherds.co.uk Label contact : marit@trustmerecords.com & group contact : things@ntlworld.com Some of it will remind many people of the moods of Nick Drake, Greg Weeks and such. But also in light rock pop territory. Review : http://singersong.homestead.com/newwriters.html * Trust Me Rec. Bernhard & Bianca : the wedding present (N,2002)*** Tr.1, "Go" 4 min Tr.3, "Singapore" 2 min Tr.7, "Say my name" 2 min 8 Nice a sweet nursery rhyme (childsongs & sweet pop) like folky psychpop. Ethereal and with sweet innocent female vocals, organ & twinkling electric guitars. Contact the group : bb@bernhardbianca.com Review : http://psychedelicfolk.homestead.com/Psychfolkpopreview.html * 4AD Pianomagic : writers without homes (?,2003)** Tr.7, "Crown of the lost" 5 min I still liked very much various of Pianomagic earlier EP's and CD's. A year or two or so ago I lost my interest a bit in the newer releases and lost track. This latest release attracted my attention because Vashti Bunyan participated on one track. It is my favourite track of the album. Webpage : http://www.piano-magic.co.uk/ Interview : http://www.dreamgeo.com/pianomagicint.html * Trust Me Rec. Currituck Co : Unpacking my library (US,2002)*** Tr.3, "Antichrist" 3 min Tr.4, "The collision" 3 min Tr.6, "Let it Rain" 4 min 10 Contact : kb8000@earthlink.net Acid/folk singer-songwriter release. Review : http://psychedelicfolk.homestead.com/poor.html * private Currituck Co. : sleepwalks in the garden of the deadroom -demo pre-release-(US,2003)**** Tr.1, "Paid for Grace" 7 min Tr.2, "I went outside today" 6 min Tr.3, "SPM on a Friday" 3 min Tr.5, "One too many comforts" 5 min Tr.6, "sleepwalking I" 3 min Tr.7, "Your name was not mentioned" 4 min 28 Much more interesting, in fact perfect work with more fingerpicking guitar. Highly recommended ! It was hard to leave out any tracks. For fans of Nick Drake, Greg Weeks, Bert Jansch. "Sleepwalking I" has chamber music additional arrangements. "You're name was not mentioned" has second, female vocals and violin/harmonica arrangements. Beautiful ! Review : http://psychedelicfolk.homestead.com/acidfolkreview2.html * unreleased Currituck Co. : Ghost man on first (demo) (US,2003)*** Tr.4, "Dedication : Fred Neil" 4 min Tr.5, "Silly Woman" (B.Jansch) 4 min 8 Another fine release with even more attention to the guitar. For this show there's more attention to songs. 3decidation.." is an instrumental. "Silly Woman" is a beautiful acid/psych folk version of the song, with droning strings (from sitar & guitars ?) (-in mood of early Incredible String Band-). Review : http://psychedelicfolk.homestead.com/guitar.html * Vinyl Mania Tantadruj (SL,1997)*** Tr.6, "Lenora" 2 min First played track is a beautiful acid folk tracks with flute, acoustic guitars, cello, triangle. There are some style differences on the same album. I played more of this album in the radioshow about acid folk in former- and after- Yugoslavia. Webpage : http://psychedelicfolk.homestead.com/yufolk.html * Vinyl Mania Tantandruj (SL,2000)***? Tr.2, "Podoba, Ki Izginja" 4 min Tr.6, "Usoda Reka" 4 min 8 Fine gentle "solo" work from guitarist. Acoustic guitars with male & female vocals., and with additional violin, ... Songs with some blues and acid folk and other influences. Knowing the language helps. I had this release just in time to include in the radioshow. Review will be published later at the Tantadruj webpage at http://psychedelicfolk.homestead.com/yufolk.html * unreleased Tandruj (SL,2002)**** Tr.1, "Esgaroth" 4 min Tr.3, "Amandus" 4 min Tr.5, "Sish-Kebab Raga" 6 min Tr.7, "Brahmaputra"6 min Tr.11, "Kyoto Blues" 3 min Tr.12, "Dingiskhan" 5 min 28 Tandruj is the guitar duo with tabla player from Tantadruj with shortened name. Very fine release with nice guitar (fingerpicking) based instrumentals. A professionally recorded demo that deserves a publication. Some tracks, like "Amandus" & "Sish-Kebab Raga" have a certain Bert Jansch/Pentangle like flavour. On "Sish-Kebab Raga" tabla player plays smoothly on the finger picking rhythm. There were a few more tracks I would have liked to play (like "Halva Triglav",..) but I could hardly leave out these great tracks. I noticed more often some Bert Jansch/Renbourne influence, like in "Kyoto Blues". "Dingiskhan" has a beautiful touch of hobo ? in a distance. Webpage : http://psychedelicfolk.homestead.com/yufolk.html * Quixote-music Lou Maxwell Taylor : Cheshire Tree Suite (US,1990-1996)*** Tr.3, "Lost Lake" 5 min Tr.13,"Cheshire Tree Reprise" 4 min Singer-songwriter release with some early Peter Hamill/Greg Lake reminiscence. This release will get more attention in the singer-songwriter radioshow "Mark & the Woolfeman". Review : http://progressive.homestead.com/prog2.html * Xuixote-music Cinnamonia : the scarlet sea (D,2002)** Tr.9, "Sunstream" 4 min Release in reminiscence of Dead Can Dance like products. With a light melancholy. Gothic styled. Review : http://singersong.homestead.com/MedievalDCD.html * Creat.Service Serah : late harvest (US?,2003)**° Tr.10, "Dolce" 7 min Singer-songwriter release in pop direction, with influences from Africa & other influences. This release will get much more attention in the singer-songwriter radioshow "Mark & the Woolfeman". This is the most smoothly and warm song on the album. Fine voice. Review : http://singersong.homestead.com/newwriters.html Review at http://singersong.homestead.com/MedievalDCD.html * Trust me Rec. Son of Silence : "He's mad (his name is Bush)" EP (N,2003)***° Tr.1, "He's mad (his name is Bush)" 4 min This funny track came with a video. If we would play this every time when Bush does or say something with result that are hard to cope from a wider and deeper looking human and social perspective we have to play this single more times a day. Played with sweet vocals, drums, slide guitar, piano & banjo. Hope this will become more a hit than the hits the man I'm talking about gave to the clear thinkers in the world. Video clip of the song : http://trustmerecords.com/popup.htm * Trust Me Rec. Remington super 60 and friends in space EP (?,2001)*** Tr.1, "Nice system in space" 5 min Tr.3, R60 & Ursula 1000 in space" (fragment) 3 min 8 Fine sunny, light weight, easy listening dance music / neo-60's space music track, with exotic rhythms. Dedicated to fine weather. I also like very much the afterparty remix by Ursula 1000.
