This contains great stuff. This is a psychpop track and two oriental psychedelic tracks. Review : http://progressive.homestead.com/progressive.html#anchor_57 Oriental jazz * World Arts Lloyd Miller : Oriental Jazz (US/IR/F,1961-70s,1987)**°° Tr.4, "Gol-e Gandom" (1987) 4 min Tr.5, "Perso Jazz Blend" 5 min 9 -23 Persian jazz & Fusion from Dr.Lloyd Miller who studied Persian music in Teheran and played jazz before and after in the Paris, Frankfurt & Brussels jazz scene. The style still is more like classic jazz with Persian touch, not really blending too much. These might be the best presentations. Review : http://progressive.homestead.com/PERSIAreviews.html * MDC Rec. Gilles Andrieux & Vincent Courtois /Senem Diyici Quartet : Turquie, moment de Këif (F/TÜ,1993)***° Tr.5, Senem Diyici : "Ahbaric" 5 min Tr.6, Andrieux-Coutrois : "Chez Jamet" 4 min Tr.7, Senem Diyici : " Ahbaric " 6 min 15 -38 2 Middle Eastern (Turkish) Jazzfusion groups based in France presented together on one nice CD. First group is based around saz player Gilles Andrieux. Review : http://progressive.homestead.com/SENEMDIYICI.html * Buda Musique Senem Diyici Quartet : live ! (F/TÜ,2005)**** Tr.1, "Yaz Yagmaru" 8 min -46 Review : http://progressive.homestead.com/SENEMDIYICI.html * Snail Rec. Amira : Rosa (BH,2004)*° Tr.10, "Bogata sam, imam, svega" 4 min -50 The only track with electric saz of traditional Bosnian folk. Review : http://psychedelicfolk.homestead.com/ethnofolk.html#anchor_43 * Private Gece : Global grooves, Turkish roots (AUS/TÜ,2002)**° Tr.4, "Anan Var Midir" 5 min This is a good, light weight, joyful independent Turkish ethnofolk group. Nice to hear harp & didgeridoo mixed with Turkish folk. Review : http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/Turkprogreview.html * Private Unified Gecko : Gecko Kebab (AUS,TÜ,2003)**° Tr.3, "Aralim" 6 min Tr.5, "Gidiyorum" 7 min 13 -63 Very good enjoyment & entertainment ethnofolk group, with world dance rhythms, some jazzy & reggae and many more elements, but with Turkish core. This first track for instance shows all kinds of influences in the interpretation. Review : http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/Turkprogreview2.html * Meef Records Raquy and the Cavemen : Jordan (IS,US,EG,2005)*°° Tr.1, "Graovsko" 5 min -68 A few more tracks of Raguy's instrumental Middle Eastern Music have a rock touch. This is alternated with percussive tracks, and simple traditional tracks. Review : http://progressive.homestead.com/MiddleEast.html#anchor_71 * Kent Esin Engin Orkestrasi : Oyun Havalari (TÜ,197?)**° Tr.A2, "Beyoglunda Gezersin" 4 min Tr.B4, "Arabesk Oyun Havasi" 5 min -77 Good & entrtaining Anatolian belly dance music. (Found this for 3 euro on a fair). Info : http://www.tulumba.com/icy_itemdesc.asp?ic=MU960005EF629 * Meditolia Music Ugur Dogan : Cam-IÂzâd (TÜ,2005)***' Tr.2, "Loosing It" 7 min Tr.8, "Had to Happen" 7 min 14 -91 Nice keyboard driven, somewhat meditative & atmospheric fusion music with Turkish elements like percussion. Second chosen track is with looplike ambient orchestration and deep bass percussion. Review : http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/Turkprogreview2.html * Clou Murat Ses : Automaton² (TÜ,2005)**° Tr.6, "Hattushili" 6 min -97 Repetitive loop-like trance-rhythms with ethno-influenced keyboards on top. This track is trance-rhythmic pop-electronica. I think it's my favourite track, when taking the tracks out of the context/concept. Review : http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/Turkprogreview1.html * ? ?? : Belly Dance (EG,??)**° One of the so many CDR bootlegs for big bugs sold to tourists in Egypt as "the real thing", musically and as a true real "CD". Luckily the music is really ok. I wanted to mention this to other visitors to Turkey : there are NO real CD's in most of Egypt. * Doublemoon Rec. Orient Expressions : Divan (TÜ,2004)*°° Tr.1, "intro" 2 min Tr.3, "Istanbul 1:26AM" 7 min 9 -106 Rhythmic Middle Eastern music with additional modern trance beats & ambient effects, sax etc., well mixed and produced. Hazerfan : Lost Nowhere (US/TÜ,2005)***° Tr.1, "Spellcaster" 5 min Tr.3, "Black Spirit" 4 min Tr.6, "Evil Eye" 6 min 15 -121 Excellent Hardrock with some Oriental/Turkish elements. The group was based in Turkey before. Since the (already very good) demo debut, the group sound improved and now also has a great, powerful female voice. Review at http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/Turkprogreview1.html * private ? DDR (TÜ,2005)-? Tr.2, "kirmizi" 5 min -127 Audio : http://ddr.megaonline.net/DDR-KIRMIZI.mp3 This is only a downloaded track while I still wait for the arrival of the original demo. * private ? Sad Eyed Lemurs (TÜ,2005?)-? Tr.6, "Yante" 6 min -133 Audio : http://www.musicianmp3.com/music/Sad Eyed Lemurs - Yante.wma This second group of Üner Altay is more improvised and more progressive in style. This is a downloaded track while I'm still waiting for the arrival of the original item. It has slightly operatic vocals and nice arrangements with some classical influence. Info : http://www.musicianmp3.com/artist/SadEyedLemurs/ * Ada Müzik Bulutsuzluk Özlemi : Bulutsuzluk Senfoni (TÜ,2004) Info & review will be added soon at website, but item didn't arrive in time for radioshow. Review at http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/Turkprogreview.html * Spotek Cem Karaca : ölümsüzler (compilation)(TÜ,1970s)****° Tr.11, "Kavga" 5 min -137 Best compilation of Cem Karaca's work so far, all with progressive & essential tracks. Highly recommended. This track has some moog and other nice arrangements. More info on Cem Karaca : http://progressive.homestead.com/CEM_entry.html Info with audio : http://www.tulumba.com/icy_itemdesc.asp?ic=MU940401WA696 * Marsandiz music Cem Karaca, Ugur Dikmen, Cahit Berkay : Nerde Kalmistik ? (TÜ,1992)**' Tr.1, "Raptiye Rap Rap" 4 min -141 Completely different album in arrangements sometimes also with pop and mainstream rhythmbox and synthesizers but strangely enough still with "rock" feeling, and some Anatolian folk elements. Made with Cahit from Mogollar. This was perhaps the latest work of Cem before he passed away, done after his return to Turkey after his political conviction was cancelled. Musically this is more interesting for the more hard fan. This track has a very modern pop feeling, not bad, and strange to hear this cleverness in a modern style from an already older man. * private Edip Akbayram :single collection vol 1 (TÜ,1970-1974)**°°' * single side A & B with Dönüsüm (1973): Tr.8, "Dumanli Dumanli Oy Bizim Eller" 3 min * single side A, also from 1973, with Dostlar : Tr.9, "Degmen Benim Gamli Yasli Gönlüme" 5 min IF TIME LEFT : Tr.10, “Yakar Inceden Inceden” 5 min Thank you Oguz from Onstage Rec. with this and Cem's cdr for your contribution on this radioshow. The earliest songs here from Edip are more traditional, and the arrangements arranged from folkrock over rock to hard-folkrock.. like this terrific single with his group Dönüsüm. All other tracks are with the great progressive rock with Dostlar. The single from 1973 is with very emotional voice and great psychrock band. Also the single after that is terrific psychrock.
