The working towards a national independency was not an easy task at all, an idealism that would not lead as easy to victorious or even very practical solutions. It was surely not been seen as being a positive progression by countries that were build on economic dependency. Killing Salvador Allende with everything that reminded him and anybody that would support similar thoughts was assassinated. Pinochet became a tyrannical opposition that was not interested in his people at all. The music on the CD works more like a documentary, lead by Angel Parra. It's mostly lead by political and historical words. Also highly enjoyable for those who don't understand Spanish. Other songs are in semi-Chilean folklore style. The songs from '68 I chose are wonderful poetic protest songs. Many other are references to live pure, with open heart and with social consciousness, with respect for true persons. Victor Jara was one of the first musicians to be assassinated by Pinochet (on 15th of September, 1973). With him all his records were destroyed. This is an overview of his work. With nice booklet.
