Playlist CEM KARACA, most important rocksinger from Turkey, and one of my all time favourite voices. "Psyche van het Folk", Radio Centraal, Antwerpen: 2002-10-23 Cem Karaca started with the Dynamites, covergroup, Then an Elvis Presley cover group with The Jaguars in 1967 Then with Apaslar from 1967 onwards : with APASLAR : Apaslar started as another Shadows clone, but played with good energy and power, musical talent, and evolved to an even stronger originality. * Apaslar in Shadows Rockn'Roll style : TD Tr. 13, "Suya Giden Alli Gelin" (1967)(Rockn'Roll) 3 min TD Tr. 23, "Anadolu Oyun Havasi" (1967) 3 min * Apaslar solo in a more inventive style : HN Tr.6, "Gilgamis" (1969) 4 min 10 * again with Cem Karaca : CDA Tr.15, "Kara Uzum" 3 min CDA Tr.16, "Karacaoglan" 4 min 17 (Karacaoglan is a Turkish philosopher. His texts were used more than once. May be the name comparing has something to do with this too ?) Apaslar's bass player Serhan Karabay left the group to form KARDASLAR in 1969. In 1972 Cem started to work with the Mogollar. * with MOGOLLAR : VOL1 Tr.1, "Namus Belasi" 5 min (with wonderful bass, organ from Murat Ses ; disapproved or unlucky honour, about blind honour that finally even kills family members) Tr.6, "Edali Gelin" 5 min (very emotional, perfect instrumentation) * Tr.8, "Obur Dunya" 3 min 30 (very emotional, powerful voice ; a protest song against the mentality in society were people eat each other). Through circumstances Mogollar left to France to record an Anatolian folk based serious pop record. Cem Karaca finally started to work with the new group DERVISAN.
