WEA Rec.
Niel: Hole in my shoe (1984) : Tr.1,8 min
A parody version from this recommended 45' from Neil (The Young Ones) is very nice.
I like his version of a Incredible String song especially.
PS. The full LP I like less as the maxi single ; the maxi single is just both hippie tracks done with Caravan members, while the LP has other styles too.
Napper Music
Pretty Things : F.S.Sorrow (1968)

Track 1, "S.F.Sorrow" 3 min

Track 2, Bracelets of fingers" 4 min

Tr.4, "Private Sorrow" 4 min 60
One of the best albums of the 60's regarding to my opinion.
Aftermath July. (1968) Track 13, "The Way" 5 min
July as a sixties band used the sitar a bit more often. Only in this track a bit more on th foreground as usual. I prefered the unreleased version (bonus track) in stead of the album version.
(Essex Rec. July : The Second of July : tr.B1, "Friendly man" 3 min)
EMI
Tomorrow featuring Keith West (1968)

Track 3, "Real life permanent dream": 4 min
PS. Tomorrow had only one track with sitar.
An original album cover with some additional notes you can find at :
The Yes-family tree contained members from Tomorrow :
(there are many more page to find about him, but Howe is more associated with Yes as with Tomorrow so I leave it with these ones).

Tr.11,"Cobra Forever" 3 min
This group does not only have fusions with India but also other Middle East influences.
Beside the electric sitar & minitar they also used the (electric) oud. Very unique group.
One member from Iran, a Frenchman (playing the oud) and a Belgium guy.( Another simular product I have is completlely "Middle Eastern Rock Fusion" and is John Berberian & The Rock East Ensemble with his" Middle Eastern Rock" album. More about that one on another radioshow). Later I listed the item at the Middle Eastern rock page.
INDIAN. FUSIONS :
Purple Lant.R. El.Psych.sitar Headwirlers vol 4,

Tr.18, Mehropaaprograjah :

"Love dance of the lemmings" 5 min
Unique track with a psychedelic Bach version combined with a more down Indian film music song. Later I found out this must be Mehrapoojah from Iran.

2 good releases with sitar beat, beside the first Ananda Shankar album,
with lots of Beatles covers with sitar (both are most probably by Big Jim Sullivan),
Lord Sitar is with much more exotic arrangements. Big Jim Sullivan is a bit more serious with its arrangements. Both releases are fine and highly enjoyable.
Sitar A-Go-Go grooves and exotic use of sitar can be heard in this release (only on LP).
It contains a demo track from The Jim Sullivan Sound, A Lord Sitar single, a great version of "We Love You" from Guy Pedersen et son Grand Orchestre (F) and much more groovy stuff. Info to order : Marthy J. Coumans
Balsara & his singing sitars made also very pleasant sitarbeat LP's on 60's greatest hits !
