EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC INSTRUMENTS,
radioshow 1

I decided to remove most of what was on this page
because new, improved pages on this subject were added later.

A few music fragments from this radioshow which I didn't put in a new perspective are :

Clara Rockmore with the Theremin
in 1944

and during the first recording
in 1987

" Not only the instrument sounds incredibly beautiful, but Clara is an extraordinary performer. During my first list to the record I had an unexplainable overwhelming outburst into tears.
I know from everybody who heard this they experiened it in a similar way. I remember when I first heared this instrument accidentely as a kid on the radio it struck me immediately.
OK. It became popular in a let's say more commercial use in easy listening. You can see it appear in some rock groups or film music. I still prefer the classical pieces written for it, and performed by Clara Rockmore. It is as if the instrument gets something extra what it might have been design for : as an etherical instruments using harmonised sine-waves that might be sensed by something beyond the physical plane."

The pages related to Clara Rockmore you can find at PAGE 2 : THEREMIN-LINKS.

Lydia Kavina : Original works for theremin (Mode, 1999) **°

Lydia with Leon Theremin
at the age of 9

Lydia Kavina during the recordings
in 1999

Kavina plays much more technical, as a classical trained artist. Her compositions are original. And she managed to record for the first time some classical compositions for theremin on her CD.

All pages related to Lydia Kavina and the theremin you can find at the next page.

The Daxophone :

"Shanghaied on Tor Road"      how to use the daxophone

"The principle of the daxophone is in some way very simple. How many people didn't play as a child with a spoon on the table, moving it while holding or pushing it down on the table with one while with the other hand gave it a push upwards. In stead of a spoon Hans Reichel used wooden sticks which he transformed into forms which reminds me at forms to reproduce the human voice in the human-voice-organs. With the dax itself he controles more or less the notes being produced. The effect reminds us so much of the human voice combined may be with a duck."
